Personal Reflection

What Do You See in the Mirror?

Wherever I look, on television, magazines and books, I feel bombarded with the pressure to look good.

And I live in Dallas!  We probably have more plastic surgeons than anywhere else in the world.

And, this is the hard part: I’m getting older.  My age is starting to show!  I look in the mirror and I see great imperfections.  But what does God see?

What do you see in the mirror?  Or better yet, what does Christ see?

My prayer is that we reflect Christ!   I pray that when He looks upon us, He sees our hearts full of love for Him and love for others.  Yes, our outward appearance is fading every day yet our inward beauty should be growing more and more.

 Manna from Heaven

This is how the Lord sees us:

“How beautiful you are, my love, how beautiful!  Song of Solomon 4:1

“I delight greatly in the Lord; my soul rejoices in my God.  For He has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.”  Isaiah 61:10

No matter what you may have gone through in your life, God sees you as only a beautiful bride!  He sees the inside of each person:

“But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance…for God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”    I Samuel 16:7

“Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet out inner man is being renewed day by day…while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.”  2 Corinthians 4:16,18
