Personal Reflection

Spring Break = Anointed Kid Time

The schools in my area of the country are having their spring break this week.  Most activities are cancelled so moms can be home.  Then a thought came to me:  what a perfect time to really focus on your children and to be fully present in their life.

They grow up so quickly.  They change so fast.  They will leave your home and start their own lives in what will seem like a split second.  You may look back at their childhood and say, “I wish I had spent more one-on-one time with them.”

I don’t want any of you to ever have that regret.  So, even if your children may get on your nerves or take up too much of your time, there will be a day when you wish you could get the time back.

And this week is that time!  A perfect time to really sit down and talk with them.  Or take a walk together; or play a game; or read together; or have a special breakfast.  I hope you look at spring break differently every year from now on and see it as a tiny slice of making memories.

“You must love God with all your heart, soul, and might.  And you must think constantly about these commandments I am giving you today.  You must teach them to your children and talk about them when you are at home or out for a walk; at bedtime and the first thing in the morning.”  Deuteronomy 6:5-7 The Living Bible.
