Personal Reflection

Our Nation Needs Prayer

Dear Blog Friends,

First, I have missed you and am sorry it has taken me so long to get back to writing these blogs.  Family happenings, vacation, life and trying to find the time to write have all contributed to this delay.

I had wanted this first blog to be on a more carefree and cheerful note.  However, with the voting booths already open, I feel a need to share with you a troubling letter from the Rev. Billy Graham:

“After watching the political conventions of both parties last month, it’s clear that America is quickly hurtling down a road toward God’s Judgment.  One party does not believe in the sanctity of life.  One party does not support the biblical definition of marriage between one man and one woman and enthusiastically endorses and promotes same-sex marriage.

“One of the conventions was held near our headquarters in Charlotte, where they made a clear choice to leave God and Jerusalem out of their platform.  They caught so much criticism from around the country that they moved to reinsert the words but needed a two-thirds majority to make the change.  Many voiced their approval when asked to say ‘aye’.  But I watched in horror and absolute disbelief at the deafening roar as delegates rejected including any mention of God’s Name

“I appreciate those delegates at the Democratic convention who stood up by saying, ‘aye’.  They were the minority, with the majority clearly rejecting any mention of God.  This all happened on national television and it sent goose bumps up my spine and shock waves across America.  When the Prophet Jeremiah warned the Judeans of impending Babylonian captivity, he repeatedly reminded them that their exile would take place because they had forgotten God (Jeremiah 2:32; 3:21; 13:25; 18:15).

“Does your vote count?  Yes.  Now is the time for people of faith to stand up for clear biblical standards and for our freedom to live by those standards.”

Please pray for our nation and our leaders, locally and nationally.  Please pray for our schools, teachers, preachers, and parents.  And please vote.  The only thing that will allow evil to win is if good people do nothing.
